# Use the hive

- **Open it:** select files, right click, choose Kawaro. On Linux you can also hold the drop shortcut while dragging ([shortcuts](shortcuts.md)).
- **Read it:** the centre cell shows the full name of the cell under your pointer.
- **Pick:** click a cell. Cells that do not fit your selection are not drawn.
- **Result:** saved next to the original under a new name, or in a subfolder if you change `output` in [settings](settings.md).
- **Progress:** in the tray tooltip. On Windows, the tray menu has Cancel all.
- **Many files:** actions that combine files, such as merging PDFs, appear when you select two or more.
